Is this PSU sufficient?
I was thinking about purchasing a Cougar STC 500 (https://cougargaming.com/products/psus/stc/). Is this brand sufficient?
PC specifications: i5 6500, RX 580 2048SP, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 128GB SSD, 500GB HDD, 3 case fans.
When purchasing that Cougar unit, consider buying a fire extinguisher and placing a concrete barrier between you and the PC capable of withstanding an explosion.
Alternatively, to safeguard your home from fires, I suggest either the Thermaltake Toughpower GX2 for budget-conscious buyers ($65 on Amazon) or the Silverstone Strider ($100 on Amazon) if you prefer higher quality. If these options aren't available in your area, let me know and I'll search further.
In general, avoid cutting corners on your power supply. Doing so not only poses a personal risk but also increases the chance of damaging all components when your PC starts unexpectedly.
The RX 580 could be an outdated graphics card that has dropped significantly in price, yet this does not alter the reality that it needs additional troubleshooting and a low-quality power supply unit is a bad pairing.
