On my laptop with 4GB RAM, opening Firefox with many tabs uses only about 1.8GB. On my new PC with 16GB RAM, Firefox with several tabs uses around 2.5GB. Why the difference? It seems the amount of RAM matters more than the number of tabs you open. I can share more if needed.
It seems your PC likely had a larger page file, and physical memory usage increased only after adding more RAM. That's completely normal.
That's typical. Plus, a fresh PC usually comes with more RAM, and it also varies based on the operating system—32-bit or 64-bit.
