The experience felt overly focused on flashy events and achievements, making it feel more like a pinball game than a traditional board game. The AI behavior was confusing, with unclear emotions and decisions that ignored strategic alliances. Combat also lacked cohesion, with units acting independently and often wasting opportunities. Overall, I struggled to complete my first match due to the repetitive nature of the challenges and the lack of meaningful strategy. I found it hard to stay engaged once I started gaining an advantage, which made the game feel less rewarding. Trying harder settings didn’t improve the situation for me. It seems the design prioritizes mechanics over immersion, leaving little room for genuine strategy. This isn’t just about the game itself—it might reflect a change in how I approach it as I get older.

SpaceGhostC2C is thrilled to be part of this discussion. After reading another review, I realized why I shared this post—I was wondering if I overlooked something important. I think it’s clear that simply offering an unfair advantage doesn’t improve challenging settings; in fact, it often makes the game harder. Checking out XCOM 2 is a great choice, and for Civ V multiplayer, you might want to try another title since most places are quiet right now. Any other games you’ve been enjoying lately?

Same as you. V was great. VI got boring fast for me quickly. I picked up Stellaris on Humblebundle monthly and I like it way more than Civ now.

I'm looking for a way to enjoy some games again. The Planet Coaster didn't meet expectations, so I'm thinking of revisiting the 90s titles like SimTower, SimCopter, and Rollercoaster Tycoon. Please help me get back to those! Sad

I still enjoy playing Civ V with my friends from time to time. I really love the game. I kept trying Civ VI but couldn't make it work, or I got confused about the space version (forgot its name).

It was number 4 that stood out to me. Give it a shot—I think it’s the only Civ title where the AI really shines.5 felt a bit inconsistent, and most players in 6 seem indifferent about alliances and treaties.

The game has improved significantly after the updates and DLCs, especially regarding AI behavior and gameplay balance. Compared to the earlier review, the mid-to-late stages now feel more stable and the AI limitations are less pronounced.

The first option felt disappointing, while the second one came across as completely poor quality.

Absolutely, I did skip them both after reading so many negative reviews.
