Is this free VPN really worth it?
It sounds promising, and it's based in Sweden (where I purchase all my VPNs from), which makes sense. I plan to set up a new VM tonight to test it. If you saw it on TBP, it’s probably linked with a RAT or malware, so proceed carefully if you’re thinking about downloading it. Honestly, I’d go for something like nVPN if you’re concerned. You can pick between dynamic or static IP addresses and select the country your servers are in. Just avoid choosing America if you don’t want them to log your activity. Every VPN service in the US must comply with laws that require logging.
There isn't a program available for download on TBP, but it was promoted there. (I think) I'm using a school computer now, so it's worth a shot.
the claim doesn't hold up—flash isn't accurate, and JavaScript can expose your IP easily. They’ll be handling all illegal actions. I use Zenmate (a Chrome extension) mainly to bypass college proxies and access Netflix in the US without them commenting on privacy. They say everything is encrypted, but someone could still find a way to blame anyone.
Are you confident about this? It seems clear to me that Europe has data retention regulations, not the United States.
There’s no solid proof that FrootVPN is genuine, though their Twitter activity suggests otherwise. An interview with the company three days ago didn’t add much trustworthiness either. Notably, a commenter mentioned DDOS in the discussion, which raises red flags. Regarding TPB, it seems wise to avoid it for now.
Welcome to the botnet. I don’t usually rely on free VPNs. I’m satisfied with PrivateInternetAccess, so there’s no reason to change. Their site seems quite appealing, so I’ll support them.
