I powered on my computer and discovered a file called Microsoft Edge Installer occupying significant disk space and memory. The inspection indicated it was created recently (about two days ago) and showed no copyright from Microsoft in the details section, which is typical for Microsoft applications. Checking the folder location revealed there’s no "update" directory inside the Edge folder, leading me to suspect a potential virus. Should I remove it?

He explored using Windows Search. You can navigate to the Microsoft folder, type "Setup" in the search bar, and locate around four files. Right-clicking them will open options that lead to their respective folders.

Type/copy/paste the whole path manually, it could be a hidden folder.

No, it's not necessary to label edge as malware or virus. Assessing it should focus on its behavior and impact rather than preconceived labels.

I possess a clip of myself at the age of four sharing with my grandfather that Internet Explorer was considered a virus.
