Backblaze looks real at first, but it's a scam. It claims to have an IT background and other stuff. What do you think?

Yeah, having a program always watch for backups costs money and uses up resources. Crashplan takes a lot of RAM too (about 4 TB of important files on one server also go to the cloud), so it runs on the server instead of my main computer. Good software needs lots of stuff to run that way. It's not saying Backblaze is perfect -- I don't personally use it -- but the video maker here doesn't really make a good argument either. For instance, looking at how much power similar programs need for the same job might have shown something. It mostly just looks like someone got mad at Backblaze.

Why do you think BackBlaze is safe or might be a scam? Why not just tell us what you believe? Don't worry about us watching too much; it's your call to decide for yourself. Just share your thoughts instead of leaving the whole thing up to others to figure out for you.

He said the system is really hungry for resources. He didn't know that before. You can only pause the thing or make a manual copy to save it, but if you forget to turn it back on later, you lose everything. He also mentioned they delete your data after some time while you're still paying, even though the drive isn't connected anymore. I get why their servers can't hold all that much stuff at once, but it does feel a bit frustrating.

So, if your thing is always turning on and off to keep things running...it might take a lot of extra power that you don't need. I never turn it on, so I don't know. Just think about this: "the cloud" means someone else's computer or server. Be careful what you do there!

I just watched this video and read all those comments. It looks like someone is ignoring what the service says about how things work, or maybe they don't want to pay more money to get exactly what they need.

Great point about that video! The issue you're having isn't your fault; it's actually just how the user settings are set up wrong.

Yeah, having a program that watches for backups costs extra power and time. Crashplan uses a lot of memory, about 4 TB of data on one server getting to the cloud, which is why it runs on another machine instead of my main computer. Hard software needs more resources to work. That doesn't mean Backblaze is perfect because I don't actually use them for videos like this video maker does. It just seems like someone got angry at Backblaze and made a point by comparing costs for the same job.
