Is this an issue? 3900x drp4 offset contact
I'm saving the Dark rock pro 4 into an in-win a1 plus after checking https://pcpartpicker.com/b/cX6scf. The issue is that the CPU socket on my Gigabyte X570i is nearer to the top of the case than the one used in that build. This means I can't place the cooler directly on top of the CPU because it's too close. My fix was a slight adjustment in the mounting bracket. It seems to work well—cannot exceed 72°C in Cinebench R20 and 60°C during gaming. Should I worry about this approach long-term? Switching to an ASUS model would be better, but I got this Gigabyte unit for its low price, while an ASUS with similar specs is much more expensive.
Run Cinebench for 30 minutes with the side panel closed and check the temperature it reaches.
Using the standard quiet fan setting of 76-78, boosting the case exhaust and intake keeps performance stable at around 72°C.
Despite the favorable temperatures, a few cores might still run hotter. I was hoping the issue was just a minor part of the heat spreader, so it wouldn’t be a big deal. I really want to use the DRP4, because I’m aiming for a quiet build and it looks great in this compact design.
