I'm attempting to improve my MOBO, CPU, and GPU setup, but I'm uncertain if I'm achieving the optimal price-performance balance within my $500 to $700 budget. I've already reviewed their recommendations and found them helpful. I also experimented with a custom build that enabled me to acquire a strong GPU while upgrading the CPU.
The 6800 model I'm considering is not priced at $600 and is notably more affordable than $250 less. I'm puzzled about why PCPartPicker appears to be pulling these prices from various sources. I remain open to other GPU options, as I play some VR games and aim for a solid boost from my RTX 2060 (which isn't a high-end card). VR isn't a major concern for me. I'm unsure which components to prioritize if I want the best performance for my budget. Could anyone provide some guidance?

GPU options may change based on upcoming sales in the next 24 hours or week. I'm reusing my existing RAM and planning to maintain my PSU.

Are you truly required to upgrade to the latest CPU and MOBO? If so, it would be difficult to afford the GPU. The previous generation CPU and MOBO were very affordable, allowing me to use my existing DDR4 memory. Even if DDR4 2x16 was more expensive than DDR5 2x16, I wouldn’t have considered it. My goal is simply to achieve noticeable performance improvements without exceeding a budget of over 800$.

Any extra budget can be spent on the GPU depending on what deals you can find
Why was it stuck on the 6800? This model is newer and quicker too, and it's also over $100 cheaper.

Perhaps consider the Ryzen 5700X3D for better value.

Another option to think about is a solid Intel DDR4 motherboard such as the B660 or 760. You might also find good offers on a Z690 or 790.

The main advantage of an Intel build would be the ability to upgrade to a 14th generation CPU later, which isn’t possible with the AM4 socket.
If you have a Microcenter nearby, it might be worth looking into them. They often have attractive bundle deals.
I don't have direct experience with those chips, but for $20, I believe I'd choose them for their durability (extra cores).
