Consider an HDMI switch featuring audio pass-through and built-in amplifier. Is your headset connected via cable or wireless? The PS5 supports optical audio, which delivers the best sound but can also emphasize any minor flaws. The volume tends to be a bit higher than usual.

In contrast, HDMI delivers superior audio quality. Optical connections are restricted to just two channels unless you apply lossy compression. Of course, this works well for headphones or single-channel speakers.

It seems you're exploring different audio setups. You mentioned considering HDMI for connecting PCs or PS5, along with RCA and 3.5mm inputs, possibly using an HDMI switch. You also thought about adding an optical audio solution for better volume and clarity, while keeping the setup flexible. The idea of optical audio being louder than 3.5mm is a good one, though HDMI connections might still work similarly for most setups.
