I opened my eyes this morning and turned on my PC. After coming back upstairs, I sat in my desk chair and noticed the webcam light was on—this only appears during video calls. Could someone be monitoring my activity?
Check for malware and turn off your webcam. High risk of infection is possible.
Your computer was completely started and the indicator was lit, so yes, it seems someone is monitoring you.
Observe that your webcam illumination may activate independently, such as when Windows installs a fresh default driver or when Skype performs an automatic update. This isn't always about surveillance.
