Is there someone playing games on your gaming laptop?
I own a mobile rig. I rely on it when away from home, such as in a van or while traveling. It was handy during university. I mostly use the desktop for more demanding tasks, the notebook for lighter to moderate work. It's great that it supports displayport, HDMI inputs and outputs, and also works with VGA. Occasionally I use it as a media PC for personal use at home.
I've been playing on laptops for roughly eight years now (my first was an Asus G1s around 2007, though I did some gaming on other laptops earlier). My current mobile setups include the Alienware M18x, Clevo W110er, past Dell XPS 1730 and Asus G1s.
Also used, owned a Samsung series 7 gamer 700G7A. It was a real powerhouse :B
I own a pc with a R9 280 but I game mostly on my 850m. It's not the best in the world but it's just what I expected. It can play everything, with new games on mid/high, so it's really not a problem.
I continue this approach since 2001, though I’m unlikely to repeat the same buying route anymore. Now it focuses on affordable laptops and desktops. Previously, I chose workstation replacement class laptops because 'gamer' models were cumbersome to carry and looked unprofessional, plus they often cost too much.
