They both teased that Titanfall could be played in just 48 hours, suggesting it was a big deal. If it's just a small joke, I get why EA wouldn't reveal it for a week.

I tried the 48 hours and thought it was fun, so I bought it. But I wouldn't suggest it to others since the excitement fades quickly. I often regret buying it after playing Titanfall and its season pass. If you have someone to play with, it could be a better option.
