Is there any trouble when using a changing refresh rate?
I'm using my laptop screen. I don't think it's related to that because I have a 120Hz monitor when browsing or doing autocad with the dedicated graphics card. For example, if I open mathcad and use the integrated graphics instead, the cursor moves at 60hz. If I keep typing while moving my mouse back and forth, you can see the refresh rate drops back to 120hz.
It's weird because laptops usually use a dedicated graphics card for really intense tasks and the integrated one (IGPU) only for normal stuff. You're sure your IGPU is being used when you see 120Hz? How are you checking if the refresh rate is actually on? My GPU says its frame rate is 0, which sounds high but is actually wrong. Google won't help here; they just show how to check what it should say. If you have GSync or FreeSync, that doesn't mean Windows thinks your screen is running at those speeds. Afterburner reports IGPU running at 4 frames per second, which seems low for a laptop test like this. What does that mean exactly? It's just speed when the browser loads, not necessarily the game performance.
I'm testing how fast my mouse moves to see if the screen speed changes. I can tell the difference between 60 and 120 hz just by moving it quick. For example, when using an autocad program on a dedicated graphics card with the RTX 3050, the monitor stays at 120 hz all the time. I thought that my integrated screen could do too because my display setting only goes to 60 hz when I connect the regular monitor and not the dedicated one. But on this website it shows me 60 hz...
After switching to the 3050, I see that my monitor is set to 120hz. Maybe the built-in graphics card isn't strong enough for 120hz? And if I change the refresh rate, will it use my dedicated card instead to get a smooth 120hz in some programs?
So, I came back to your link to see my graphics card speed (Hz). It says 120hz when I'm on the desktop, but 60hz if I go there instead. It's not my dedicated graphics card at all. I can check which program is using it right now.

Yeah, it's weird and doesn't feel right. The only thing that makes sense is a bug where the dynamic refresh rate kicks in when 120Hz is chosen. By the way, do you know how to contact lenovo support? I can't find any option to make a ticket or just fill something out.
it looks like the Iris Xe Max has a 60Hz refresh rate at 1440p, even if you use HDMI. I can't find any info saying it runs at 120fps in this area. Maybe there is something else in the support page?
