Is there any new hardware coming for Windows 11?
Is there any new hardware coming for Windows 11?
I checked the ASRock B450M I use with a 2600 processor running Linux. The 5600X works fine with a BIOS from 2020, but the 5700X needs a BIOS update to 2021.
Thanks for all your help guys. It looks like an AMD 5600 with a B450 board is a cheap and fun option so I can keep using my RAM. The MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max has red colors that match the red RAM sticks, so that should work well right? From what I found online, the 5600 costs about £20 less than the 5600x, so I think I'll go with the cheaper one. Is the included stock cooler good enough to finish this job down? @SkyNetRising oh well, sadly I don't have any brackets for the Cryorig h7 cooler, not sure where to get those. Could you guys also recommend some decent cheap compatible cases? I'd like to swap out my old one, which means adding a bit more money. Ideally, it should have a disc drive slot since my pc still has one left. Edit: Is the Fractal Design Focus G-Mid Tower a good choice?
I checked my computer and saw my memory (ram) is set to 2133 mhz. Google says an AMD chip can technically work with this speed, but it's not the best choice. The chip is meant for faster stuff, so using slower ram makes things slow down. I should really upgrade my ram now.
Install a program called CPU-Z, open it up, check the RAM section for screenshots, upload those images to Imgur and share the link with us. Most people don't trust the Task Manager when trying to find out how fast their memory is running.
3,200 megahertz is the usual starting point (JEDEC standard) when you buy new RAM sticks. It helps make sure everything stays stable right after you turn on your computer. The AMD Ryzen 5 5600 card says it supports up to 3,200 MT/s speed. You might get more like 3,600 MT/s or even faster, but that can't always happen with four sticks of RAM at once. https://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Zen/AMD-Ryzen 5 5600.html Memory controller Memory channels (total): 2 Supported memory: DDR4-3200 ECC supported: Yes It's up to you. If your main goal is gaming, look for faster RAM instead. When I built my 7950X system back in 2022, expensive fast RAM was way too much money for me, so I put in two sticks of 32GB at 4,800 MT/s. Today you would probably have at least six sticks of DDR5 going over 6,000 MT/s. Faster RAM doesn't always make a big difference on AMD chips, like when editing video with DaVinci Resolve (you can see this in the chart below). https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/a...-o...23-update/ On top of that, I have a bunch of Fractal Design R4 and R5 computer cases. You need to check really carefully for those 5.25-inch front panel holes in the options list. Some of these Fractal chassis even come with removable cradles that can hold up to eight hard disks, which is great if you do server builds.
To reuse your DDR4 RAM on an AMD board, I need to be careful about how things fit together. RAM only works well with specific processors, so check the website for that motherboard to see which models are supported. It changes depending on what processor you have. To stay safe, make sure your current ram kit is on the QVL list. Other types of ram might still work fine. Your seller has an app where you can verify this easily. Instead of the i5-12600K and B760 board I mentioned before, consider getting an i3-13100 or i5-12400. Those have better coolers built in and are way stronger than your old 6600K chip.
