It probably had to sit there for a really long time because that five-thousand dollar thing has been gone for so long now.

I checked the ASRock B450M I use with a 2600 processor running Linux. The 5600X works fine with a BIOS from 2020, but the 5700X needs a BIOS update to 2021.

Thanks for all your help guys. It looks like an AMD 5600 with a B450 board is a cheap and fun option so I can keep using my RAM. The MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max has red colors that match the red RAM sticks, so that should work well right? From what I found online, the 5600 costs about £20 less than the 5600x, so I think I'll go with the cheaper one. Is the included stock cooler good enough to finish this job down? @SkyNetRising oh well, sadly I don't have any brackets for the Cryorig h7 cooler, not sure where to get those. Could you guys also recommend some decent cheap compatible cases? I'd like to swap out my old one, which means adding a bit more money. Ideally, it should have a disc drive slot since my pc still has one left. Edit: Is the Fractal Design Focus G-Mid Tower a good choice?

It's an affordable computer case. I bought this for my nephew, who loves red color. It has everything up to date and still has an extra space for a 5 1/4" card slot. That makes it really versatile. There are two white LED lights on the front.
