Is there any issue with the white flashing line?
Is there any issue with the white flashing line?
I’m facing some confusion here. To give you a clearer picture, I recently upgraded my computer and installed a new setup—Ryzen 5 5600 Refurbished, MSI 2080s, Samsung Odyssey G7. The strange flashes used to happen every few minutes, but during a benchmark test they became much more frequent. I’m not sure if this is related, though. It seems to only occur on one monitor, and it didn’t happen when I plugged in my laptop. Also, the temperature was around 31°C, so it’s not likely the monitor issue. I tried a different DP cable, but the problem continues. Any advice would be really helpful. Thanks! IMG_2383.MOV
Are you checking if the second monitor also uses DP? You can verify this by testing the same port and cable. The artifact should appear on both, even if shown differently. Trying a lower refresh rate might affect the result. Do you know which DP cable version you used previously? I’ve had similar issues before—consistent problems rather than intermittent ones, with older cables working for newer GPUs and monitors.
Unfortunately, the other monitor uses DVI and I’m uncertain if I own another DP monitor. I’ll take a look and consider a lower refresh rate. To verify the cable is 1.4, you can check its specifications or consult the manufacturer’s guidelines. If unsure, purchasing a new one might be necessary.
It seems there isn't a one-size-fits-all solution. As a 240Hz monitor, older versions might not work well with VESA standards or low-quality cables. Consider getting a 1.4 VESA certified model first. Before investing, test at a lower refresh rate or try alternatives like DDU, fresh GPU drivers, or disconnecting other devices. Updating the BIOS could help too. Running a Linux OS from a USB might provide insight without replacing your monitor.
Sure, I'll do my best to help. Let me know if you need anything else!
It seems like the issue might be related to the GPU itself. Even though you didn’t notice overheating, there’s a chance it’s an artifact or another hardware quirk. I’m curious to know if others have experienced similar problems.
Artifacts typically don't appear from a single output port, though certain controllers might be responsible. It's uncommon to see this unless on very old hardware. Have you run any stress tests like OCCT or FurMark? The issues should worsen over time.
Apologies for the delayed response… I was searching for a Linux laptop I used a while back but couldn’t locate it. After trying all the other checks you suggested, the issue persists. I’ll have to accept it and purchase a proper cable, or test various devices to confirm if the problem lies with the monitor.
