I purchased the laptop used second hand. It comes with an authentic original battery, as I cleaned the fans and confirmed its genuine condition. The battery is at 51 charge cycles and 92% health, and it has only decreased by 2% in the last two weeks. I am certain this should not occur, so what steps can I take to address this?

It seems there may be limited options to address the issue. The situation likely involves the laptop not being charged for an extended time, which can cause lasting damage to batteries or similar components. I’m not aware of any method to reverse or stop this degradation once it starts. If the battery is swappable, replacing it during repair might be the best solution. If not, avoid prolonged use or leaving it uncharged for long periods. Different perspectives exist, but this appears to be a common conclusion. A 51 charge cycle is relatively few, making usage usage more likely the cause. It’s probably due to sitting uncharged for a while, especially since you purchased it used.

That's really unusual. I don't want to return it since I got a good price, but I'm planning to reach out to them to check if they can exchange it given the five-year warranty.

I mean, it's worth a try, but on a used unit I think they are likely to tell you that the battery is an expected wear item. But maybe you'll get a favorable response so it can't hurt to try. The issue is, if they're reselling used units, it's almost certain that all their laptops remain uncharged for extended periods until they're sold. No one who makes this as a business or profession will keep their devices charged, I can assure you. And any laptop that doesn't get charged for six months or more is likely to experience battery degradation.

it seems the previous owner didn't use it much, and it was only been used for a short time before I acquired it, suggesting it was there before.

over the last few days on hwinfo 64, the battery wear decreased from 6.4% to 6% and now stands at 5.4%. on lenovo vantage, the battery health has risen back to 94% and the maximum battery capacity has improved. it’s unclear if this is due to a faulty sensor, but i’ll still have it checked just to be safe.
