I enhanced my system roughly two to three months ago by adding several new components and have been dealing with a few persistent challenges.
I’m not a professional, I assembled the PC myself but my troubleshooting skills are mostly based on online research (which usually works until this happened).
Here are the main problems I’m encountering:

- When launching certain games, my main display drops out, while the other two remain active and audio stays on for a few minutes before cutting off completely. Restarting is necessary, and even then, I lose all input until a hard reset. This pattern repeats across three games—Civ 5, Stardew Valley, and Crab Game—suggesting it’s not tied to graphics-heavy titles.
- During cold starts, the computer powers off and then restarts after a brief pause.
- My main monitor occasionally disconnects briefly before reconnecting again. This is more of an annoyance than a critical problem.
- In other troubleshooting attempts, I’ve found that crashes often go unnoticed by the event viewer or crash reports, with no visible BSOD or dumps.
- Stress testing my CPU, GPU, RAM, and power supply didn’t trigger any crashes. The PSU test also didn’t reveal anything conclusive.
- I can reliably reproduce the crash by launching these specific games, which seems to be the cause.
- No significant temperature or usage changes have been observed that point to a hardware fault.
- I’ve checked memory, cables, reseated components, and updated drivers, but nothing has resolved the issue. Through OCCT, I’ve tried various workarounds.

I suspect this might be a hardware problem—possibly related to the GPU or PSU—since the symptoms don’t align with software errors. Although I can’t confirm definitively, the pattern suggests a physical component is likely faulty.
Any advice or further guidance would be invaluable, given my limited experience. It definitely feels like a power or electrical issue.

I’ve listed my build details below for reference:
- Operating System: Windows 11 Home 64 Bit
- Power Supply: Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 ATX 3.0 Gold 1350W
- Motherboard: MOBO ROG STRIX X670E-F Gaming Wi-Fi
- CPU: Ryzen 9 7950x
- GPU: Gigabyte GeForce 4090 24G OC
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 CL40 5600MHZ
- Boot Drive: Samsung 2TB 980 PRO M2 Gen4
- Cooler: Lian Li Galahad 360 AIO
- Additional drives:
- 3726GB Samsung SSD 870 EVO 4TB (SATA)
- 2794GB Seagate ST3000DM007-1WY10G (SATA)
- 3726GB Seagate ST4000DM004-2CV104 (SATA)
- 465GB Samsung SSD 970 EVO 500GB (SSD)

I’m reaching out for help, as my knowledge is limited and these steps haven’t solved the problem.

did you attempt to change the monitor to secondary and use the second one as the main display, while also connecting the other part via the OS drive for booting? check if this causes a black screen upon startup.
