I recently encountered a problem with my System on Windows 10 where it would freeze, keeping the clock frozen at the time of the issue (along with my monitoring software). I was unable to open programs other than Run, and I couldn’t restart or shut down from the Start Menu or using CTRL ALT DELETE. The system would just keep spinning during shutdown without progressing. Videos would play, Discord would react to hovering over icons, and the taskbar would stay active, but clicking anything wouldn’t launch or interact.

The only changes I made before this issue occurred were undervolting my CPU, updating Office 365 and VPN versions (though I don’t use them during these crashes), and upgrading the L-Connect Fan controller software to version 1.6.9. I thought it was the undervolt, so I removed it and a week later the problem returned.

Reliability History and Event Viewer aren’t providing any clues. I ran all Windows/graphical updates, performed some sfc scans, ran the built-in Memory test, and tested 3DMark. CrystalDisk indicates good SSD health. There’s no overheating or crashes during those tests. The most recent crash happened only when I was idle on my desktop home screen. At that time, the open programs were Discord, HWInfo64, MSI Afterburner/RTSS, L Connect 3, Steam, and Wallpaper Engine. None of these caused issues before, so I suspect the fan software update is the cause. Any suggestions or insights?

I lowered the version of the fan software and it worked better. There were no problems for several months.

Have you attempted to run Samsung Magician on your NVMe drive? Tool & Software Download from Samsung Semiconductor Global offers various products for your device and provides related details. semiconductor.samsung.com
There are diagnostic tests available... possibly storage-related. The video appears to function, so it might not be GPU-related. Check the latest BIOS for your motherboard and the chipset drivers.
https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/...t-am4/b550
What version of Windows 10 are you using? Right-click Start, select Run, type winver and press Enter. The current version is 22H2. Same issue persists—no resolution found.
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/.../...d3cf0e5b62
Consider a clean boot to test stability—follow the instructions carefully and avoid disabling any Microsoft services, as Windows won’t load properly otherwise.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help...in-windows
If the clean boot doesn’t help, it likely points to a startup program. Run the stopped programs repeatedly until you identify the culprit.

It's quite unusual for a fan control software to cause this problem... Cheers!
