Hi guys, I have this really strange problem with my headphones that are on my computer. About three years ago, I bought these DT 770 headphones with a resistance of 250 Ohms. Suddenly out of nowhere, the right ear cup audio dropped down until it sounded like they were muted. It stays there for a while, and sometimes comes back for just a few minutes before things start happening again.

I used my iFi Zen V2 DAC/AMP to connect them, but the same thing happens if I plug them in directly into the front or back jacks on my PC. If you plug headphones into the PC and they stop working, that problem will stay there for a while no matter what devices I test them on. However, after letting them rest for about ten minutes, when I plug them into my friend's computer, they work fine. Then they also work on any other device I plug into besides my PC.

I've been using my friend's USB headphones, which have worked well except for a little bit of static noise all the time. I have also tried some different IEMs using the front and back jacks on my PC and they seem to work fine too. To try and fix this problem: I wiggle the wire and jack. I uninstalled and reinstalled the DAC/AMP USB driver and firmware (and even tested without any drivers installed). I went through many Windows sound settings, like turning off audio enhancements and adjusting balancing levels. Tried plugging the DAC/AMP into different USB slots on my PC. Installed a fresh copy of Windows. Cleaned the headphone connector. Unplugged everything including the PC power cable for ten minutes. Tested headphones with nothing else plugged into the PC. Tested different DAC/AMPs.

Could it be that something is wrong with the wires inside the headphones?

I agree with you, but having a non-detachable cable on my DT770 makes me feel like I can't easily fix things if something goes wrong.

I feel you're right there. When I bend that wire in specific spots, it makes a little cracking sound. It's perfect for adding a removable wire loop now.
