Is there a way to enhance Minecraft Java FPS without purchasing new equipment?
System Specifications: CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3200G - GPU: Integrated graphics from the CPU Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M Gaming, Micro-ATX RAM: 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 at 3000MHz Boot drive: 240GB Corsair MP510, M.2 HDD's for RAID array: 2x 1TB Seagate BarraCuda PSU: 300W SilverStone SST-SX300-B, SFX Seiries OS: Debian 10 I left a humorous note on this discussion about a week ago: https://forums. Unfortunately, no one responded, so I’ve opened a new thread as a respectful forum member I’m not a gamer, but I play Minecraft occasionally and haven’t paid much attention to performance issues before I’m fully aware that the issue likely lies with the Ryzen CPU internal graphics – even though it still performs better than on my laptop My question is: Are there any software or graphics configurations that could boost FPS without additional hardware? If the answer is no, I’ll just say I’m not bothered
I strongly suggest installing OptiFine for the version of the game you are currently using. It offers a broader selection of options concerning performance, enhances overall gameplay, and makes your experience much more fluid. There is also a setting about VBOs and how OpenGL renders; you may need to experiment with it to see if it boosts your game's speed. Additionally, consider trying a custom resolution texture pack—start with a 16x16 size and explore 8x8 options for better FPS gains and a more polished look. Lastly, you might want to run the game with high priority (you can adjust the priority of most programs).
Did you keep track of temperatures and usage during your gaming sessions?
What frame rate do you achieve?
Which monitor resolution are you currently using?
Yep, the average is around 60-65°C, never going higher than 68°C. The specs are between 10 and 18. I'm currently at work, but I can't recall the details. This monitor is an old VGA model, not too large, and it's the same one I used with my old Pentium 4 build.
I’m unsure about all the graphics settings and their meanings.
When I get home from work, I’ll check which options to adjust or keep as default.
In my experience, I usually stick to the simplest texture pack, set render distance to 6, and keep clouds flat.
I tried changing most settings to the fastest option but might have overlooked something important.
Also, in AT Launcher, I only use a minimap mod.
I strongly suggest installing OptiFine for the version you are currently using. It offers a broader selection of performance-related options, enhances overall game speed, and significantly smooths your gameplay experience. You should also adjust the VBO settings and OpenGL rendering configuration, experimenting to see if these changes boost your game's performance. Additionally, consider using a custom resolution texture pack—start with a 16x16 texture and explore 8x8 options for better FPS gains and a more polished visual style. Lastly, you might want to run the game with high priority by adjusting its settings in Task Manager.
In addition to Optifine, consider reducing the render distance in the game's graphics options. Begin with around 6 chunks (low setting), test for a short period to ensure everything loads completely, then gradually increase the distance until you discover the optimal range for your CPU capacity.
Also, tweaking other quality parameters like details and cloud shadows can significantly improve performance.
Thanks a lot for the suggestion, using OptiFine and setting the render distance to 6 gives me around 25fps most of the time. My lowest frame rate has increased to 17fps, which isn’t great but is still an improvement. I removed most of the extra shaders and animations with OptiFine, and I believe a render distance of 6 is ideal for me. Probably because of limited RAM—my PC’s internal graphics use 2GB, leaving only 6GB available for everything else. My brother thinks more RAM would help, but I’ve already spent enough on this.
