I own an outdated machine that requires a replacement, so perhaps contemporary motherboards offer additional USB connections. However, I'm seeking options since I already have speakers, a keyboard, a mouse, a headset, and recently purchased two wireless controllers for couch co-op, but lack suitable outlets for their chargers. Appreciate any suggestions.

Old rig, but does it seem like the io shield has some issues? I’m not sure what the label says on this unit, but could part of the io shield be blocking something? I haven’t worked with an io shield in two years. How could someone get in and pull out a prong from that USB port? It looks like the part is removable, and I think I might have messed it up a decade ago without realizing it.

Does the case have slots for video card etc? That's where the pci usb card would go, nothing to do with mobo io area. Long as you have an additional pci slot for one of these. If not then just a simple usb hub would suffice, like a network switch, plug usb hub to one of the usb ports and output to however many.

Not using the method I changed the case for vertical GPU mounting. All slots are covered now. I need to repair the USB port next, but I don't know how to take off the IO shield anymore.

It seems you might need to take out the entire motherboard to secure the clip, especially if using a custom water loop. Hmmm.

Typically done by taking out the motherboard.

When choosing an external USB hub, ensure it is powered by a mains supply to prevent issues caused by limited power from the PC's USB port.
