Windows Voice Typing functions well yet has room for improvement. Pressing Win + H initiates transcription, but sometimes the first word repeats and punctuation isn’t applied automatically despite enabling it in settings. To add punctuation, I frequently repeat "full stop" and "question mark." It struggles with recognizing these words. I’m looking for free alternatives to replace Windows voice typing, preferably ones that support commands like “delete last word” or “delete the whole line.” Whisper is often recommended, but I’m unsure if it’s available as a standalone app for Windows 11 or if using it requires payment through OpenAI.

I recommend downloading and trying as many voice-to-text apps as possible through "free trials." (Be mindful of that.)
Each app has its advantages and disadvantages, so you may have to balance your needs.
And indeed, if an app requires payment or a subscription, you'll need to cover the cost with the developer or service provider.
