Ok this is very odd. I have
2 x Dell Latitude E6420 laptops
. I installed Windows 11 on both of them. One is fine, no issues, everything works. On the other one however there is an odd problem. This one has no sound
except when the sound trouble shooter is running
. As soon as I exit the troubleshooter there's no sound.
The correct drivers are installed, the correct device is selected and the speakers have been selected as the output device. I have googled until my fingers hurt but no answers so far. A friend of mine said that Windows was turning off the sound device. If anyone has a clue of whats going on I would appreciate the help. Thanks

The laptop lacks official support for Windows 11; the provided link offers drivers for Latitude E6420. You should be okay with Windows 10, but 11 is pushing its limits. Where did you obtain the installation file? Are the devices running the most recent BIOS update? Did you install the operating system without internet access?

I received the Windows 11 ISO from Microsoft, both versions compatible with the latest BIOS. I didn’t install it in offline mode. Both laptops were set up with Windows 11 in identical ways. With over 30 years of experience building and repairing computers, this is my first encounter with this issue. As expected, the first laptop functions perfectly without any problems, but this sound problem has me puzzled. On a side note, after a fresh installation on the second laptop, I still get no sound except when the troubleshooter is active.
