Is there a PSU issue or another matter to discuss?
My PC is a 2 years old HP Pavilion tg01-1417no. It has been functioning well until about two weeks ago when it crashed after I first tried to launch Jedi Fallen Order. Now, whenever I start any game, it crashes within the first minute. The screen turns black with messages like "searching for HDMI signal," then "No HDMI signal from your device," followed by "HDMI signal found," and it restarts quickly, bringing me back to the start screen. It seems the PC shuts off and on again whenever the GPU is active. A search on Google suggested it might be related to a power supply issue, but I’m not sure. Any advice would be appreciated.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
If your platform restarts after rebooting, it's likely because of one of two causes:
1) your PSU can't supply enough power when taxed
or
2) you're experiencing a thermal problem (overheating).
I'm focusing on the first option—the PSU isn't powerful enough for your system. It's surprising how a 400W unit can struggle, especially with a system that includes an RTX2060 and is recommended to run on a 550W PSU.
Because every part in this OEM system performs within TDP. It's a decent 12vO unit. All juice on 12v because there's nothing else to juice.
Thanks for the response!
The power supply has been functioning well for the past two years even with low output, which is unusual. It’s strange since it’s only been in use for a short time, but it seems to happen sometimes.
It would be frustrating if I needed to replace the motherboard and case to get a good PSU, though I think that’s likely what I’ll have to do.
