It seems your PC is using 8GB RAM while only downloading updates and streaming Discord. Check for background processes, close unused apps, and ensure sufficient memory for smooth performance.

Your PC has an 8GB capacity, but it's not utilizing all of it. It displays 25%, which means only 2GB is being used at the moment. You're currently downloading files, using a browser, and having chat applications running. That looks quite normal.

Maybe Messenger is being a little too intense, but overall it feels quite typical to me.

I got the point wrong, but 8 GB remains reasonable for a 32 GB system during moderate use. No major concerns here.

Pretty sure Windows in some way uses more memory the more you have, well, up to a certain point.

Newer versions of Windows 10 and 11 notice you have significantly more RAM than necessary and attempt to make the most of it by anticipating which files might be needed soon and storing them in cache. This is why I frequently hit my head on my desk whenever people are concerned about RAM upgrades, especially when reaching 80% utilization during a game with a 16GB system. It's essentially Windows trying to use unused resources that would otherwise remain idle.

It seems Windows is attempting to use scare tactics to encourage people to purchase RAM.

They're mainly focused on RAM because those who buy it tend to be a bit less informed about what's happening. Caching does speed things up, and unused memory is just wasted space. With the current trend of 16GB minimum, everyone wants to get the most out of it so the operating system can run more efficiently. Those who experienced high performance with 16GB and upgraded to larger capacities would have been better off researching before purchasing.
