Is there a lot of different information about how much RAM the Lenovo Legion 5 15ARH05 can handle?
Hey! I'm trying to add more memory (RAM) to my laptop but I don't know the exact limit. The website says I can go up to 64GB, but the official specs say it's only 32GB. Other sites have mixed answers too: some say 32GB is the cap while others say 64GB. Can you tell me which one is right? My laptop is a Lenovo Legion 5 15ARH05 with BIOS version EUCN39WW, and that might matter. Thanks so much!
Welcome to the forums, new person! The official page from Crucial is full of traps, and I got lost there before. When you want to upgrade your computer parts, just look at the normal specs on the laptop instead.
Thanks! But I just saw some posts on the Lenovo forums where people actually upgraded to 64GB and it worked fine, so maybe that's what you should try too. It feels strange when all those different stories come back at once about this. Thanks! I'm wondering, in what way did Crucial make things up for me?
A few laptops only worked with 8GB sticks according to their specs sheet. I tried going higher, even though Crucial said they could handle up to 16GB, but buying that kit didn't fix it either. You need to remember that pushing the RAM full can hurt the memory controller too much. Brands like Lenovo usually stick to safe limits so customers don't send things in for being broken because of a mistake by an owner. They tend to play it safe just in case someone messes with something working fine. If you checked old laptops, pushing max RAM and speed made the CPU chip get hotter. Anyway, good luck trying to add more memory.
That makes total sense, and I've actually noticed a lot of people moving up to 32GB storage, while very few are going for 64GB. I didn't even consider the memory controller part thanks!
