Good Evening All,
My wife surprised me with an Oculus Quest 2 this Christmas, and I really enjoy it. As someone who has played games for years, it’s also inspired me to explore virtual reality further. With my old laptop failing, I wanted to achieve two goals at once—getting a gaming laptop that supports Quest via AirLink or Link Cable. I considered purchasing an Alienware m17 R4 with 16 GB and an RTX3070, since it seems to meet all the compatibility requirements. However, during my research, I found many discussions and forum posts suggesting that some laptops struggle to connect, even though the RTX 30-series is compatible. I’m also unsure why drivers might be the issue rather than the GPU itself.

Could anyone recommend a laptop that has worked well with the Quest? I’m particularly interested in playing Half Life Alyx and other high-end PC titles on it.

I apologize if this isn’t the right place, and I’d be glad to share my thoughts elsewhere if needed.
I tried the Quest forums, but they were more about software tips than technical advice.
Thank you for your help and feedback!

I own an Alienware M17R4 3070. It connects smoothly with my Quest 2 via Airlink, and games run well at high settings. Alyx should perform nicely too. I upgraded my old router to a TP-Link AX1800 Wi-Fi 6, which fixed the previous slow and unstable connection. I also purchased a $16 KIWI type C to C 10' USB cable for wired use if required. No need for the costly Oculus cable.
