You're considering switching from an Intel Core i7-3770K to an Intel Core i5-9400F. The i5-9400F offers better performance at a lower price, making it a solid upgrade option for your current setup.

If your i7 is fairly overclocked, the switch to a 9400F isn't a huge jump. A 11th gen i5 on a B560 board offers more performance gains, or you could go with an affordable B450 board paired with a used Ryzen 5 3600 if you can find one.

Unless you're moving from a 3080 to a 4080 or similar, there aren't many upgrades that really pay off. Anyway, let's talk about it. If you're looking for performance boosts, you'll sacrifice a few threads for higher instructions per clock. For a CPU upgrade, consider an i5-11400F with H510 or B560 socket. If you're okay with team red, a B450 with 3600 will work too. Keep in mind both options need new DDR4 RAM, especially for Ryzen processors. You can use slower DDR4 for Intel, but it's still better to opt for faster memory.

It doesn’t offer much value. You’ll lose two threads and it’s built on an outdated platform. A 11400f with a solid B560 board looks better, especially if you can snag a Ryzen 5 3600 under $180. Pairing that with a budget B450 board would make a solid deal.
