Hello, I just assembled a new PC that started up smoothly the first time with a fresh Windows install. After setting it up, I added a new GPU driver, motherboard drivers, and CPU drivers. While downloading, Chrome experienced very slow load times, often taking more than three minutes for tabs to appear. Restarting the machine took over a minute, and applications opened even more slowly. Anyone know what might be causing this issue? All components were new when I received them.

Details:
Motherboard: MSI B650 Gaming Plus Wifi
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
GPU: MSI GeForce 3070 Ti 8GB
PSU: Corsair RM850e
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 32GB 6000MHz
Cooling: Icue Link Titan 360 RX and 3 x Corsair fans
SSD: Samsung 990 Pro 2TB

Running Magician on your SSD and performing diagnostics
Tool & Software Download | Samsung Semiconductor Global
Access different applications connected to your product, such as Samsung Magician, tailored for Samsung memory devices, and explore associated details.
semiconductor.samsung.com
Are you using the most recent BIOS for your motherboard?
What motherboard drivers have you installed? Did it include LAN functionality?
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B650-GAM...ort#driver
This shouldn't impact startup, which is why I checked the SSD.

Thank you for the response! I'll check the SSD diagnostics and see if updating the BIOS to the latest version from November 6, 2024 is still recommended.

Please let MSI remove beta releases once they officially launch.
I'm unsure which version it is, but I'd avoid going beyond 7E26v1F as most versions above resemble Beta.
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B650-GAM...pport#bios
It's dated for August 9th.
Magician isn't flawless; if the drive has any issues, it can't detect them.
Was the system slow before you installed Windows?

The computer operated smoothly initially, with no lag in the BIOS settings. Once Windows was set up, the startup became slower and slower programs began to take longer to launch.

It makes me wonder if the SSD is actually involved even though it tests well. Before you set up Windows, it wasn't operating on the SSD. I wanted to find out if it was lagging before any drivers were installed. I'm also interested in how it behaves in safe mode. On the login screen, click the power icon at the bottom right, hold the left shift and click restart. The PC will restart through a blue menu, then you should select troubleshoot, advanced, and startup settings, then click restart again. Choose a safe mode using the number linked to it. The PC will restart and enter safe mode. If it remains slow, it's likely a hardware issue since no drivers are running—it's just Windows.

I’ll try this next! The SSD scan is slow but nearing completion. I expect to share the outcome soon, after which I’ll move on to safe mode testing. If the SSD isn’t the issue, what should I inspect next?

the tabs might be related to LAN drivers, which is why I suggested them, but the other delays seem more like storage issues. Other hardware can slow down startup, but the loading times don’t seem to be caused by anything else I can see. Some Samsung drives use their own NVMe drivers, but I didn’t find that for the 990 Pro. Since it’s just a new drive, I might consider returning it and getting another one... and starting over. I’m pretty sure there’s nothing else going on (I’ve made mistakes before). I don’t think any other drives are present in my PC.

We began the PC in safe mode but it remained very slow. The scan showed no problems on the SSD, so we plan to change the boot drive to a hard drive (Seagate BarraCuda 2TB) to check if performance improves. Another problem was that launching a Steam game (Noita) last night caused it to crash repeatedly, though temperatures were normal and fans were functioning properly.

550 Mb/s). Also, wenn der SSD richtig funktionieren würde, würden Windows-Start in 15 Sekunden laufen.
