I'm experiencing this bothersome screech from my Corsair RM1000x during idle or general internet use. The noise disappears only when I load more demanding applications. It's likely the phone isn't picking it up as loudly as it sounds, especially since my room is quiet and I often turn off headphones. I've noticed it's noticeable in the corner of my ear, which is getting quite bothersome. You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klroY9bVy1I. Is this typical for a 1000w power supply? Are there any steps I can take to address it?

Besides RMA the PSU? Not much.
Another choice is boosting white noise, which will blend that particular sound and make it inaudible.
By the way, the sound reminds me of a bad fan bearing. You won’t be able to replace the fan inside the PSU. But if you do, well—this might be your last chance.

Yes, you're referring to the high-pitched screech or squeal sound you mentioned, which is also present in your case fans.

Yes, that could be PSU coil whine when the unit isn't under load. However, it seems more likely a fan bearing problem.

Interesting, I hadn't thought about that before. I was sure it was just electrical noise.
Actually, if it's the fan bearing, that would mean something serious isn't good.
If it were just coil whine, it might not be a defect at all. But a fan bearing suggests it could get worse over time. It seems like a brand new PSU as well.

There are lemons, even in the best ones. That's why PSUs come with a warranty.
