Is the Windows 10 reset safe for your data?
Consider a fresh setup of Windows 10 since the graphics drivers were recently updated and caused some issues. I’m curious if the “Reset this PC, keep my files” option will wipe certain parts of my programs, such as my VSTS for Ableton (DAW). Which components might be affected? Will resetting also clear all drivers so I can install them from scratch?
It retains all data except the Windows operating system, saving files in the existing directory structure with a name of: windows.old
These files in your personal documents refer to installed apps. Resetting them shouldn’t corrupt them unless there’s an issue with the installation process itself.
