Right now I'm using a 5600X paired with an ASUS Strix 3080Ti OC Edition. I'm considering swapping it for a 5800X3D and have several questions. First, what impact will this have on my gaming performance? I mainly play offline AAA games such as Hitman and Tomb Raider Cyberpunk 2077. Second, my current power draw is around 850W with Seasonic Focus. I haven't overclocked yet, but I'm planning to increase the voltage for better cooling. Third, what are my overall thoughts? I plan to sell my 5600X once I have the 5800X3D, hoping it will bring in some extra cash so I don’t feel like I spent too much. I’m not focused on maximizing FPS; smooth movement on high graphics is more important for me. I want to see how this upgrade affects my experience. Fourth, how long do you think this setup will last? Compared to a 5950X, I probably won’t upgrade again soon and might stick with the current configuration. Around 8 years from now, how would it hold up? It’s definitely a tough decision, but try to picture other possibilities. Any additional insights would be appreciated.
If you owned a Ryzen processor from before the 5000 series, the 5800X3D could be considered interesting.
It depends on your budget, at 1080p you might see a gain of over 10%, but not much at 4K. Also, the 5800X3D isn't available for streaming and doesn't require more power than a 5600X. The 5600X price has dropped below $200 now, while the 5800X3D remains costly over $400... 3/ If you find something like the 5800X3D, 5900X or 5950X, you'll be in good shape for about 3 to 4 years.
This discussion sparked my interest in checking out CPUs. I purchased the 5600X at a price I couldn’t afford, and now I regret it and wish I’d chosen a 5900X or 5950X instead.
1.1440p The cost of 5600x hasn't changed much here—probably not from the same country. 3. It's a 65w vs 105w difference, but the GPU really uses power. I think it should work fine, though I want to confirm. 4. My previous GPU was 760 when it was new and the FX8350; upgrading every 9 to 10 years now.
Another X3D project on AM4? I'm not sure it's coming to life.
