Hello everyone.
I just upgraded my GPU to a 5090 and was curious about the oldest component in my setup—my RAM.
I’m still using DDR4, specifically 64 GB at 4000Mhz.
I’m running MSI Pro Z690 with DDR4 MMO, an i7-14700K, 64GB DDR4 at 4000Mhz, and the RTX 5090.
With a 14 series CPU and the 5090, I’m wondering if switching to DDR5 would be worthwhile.
I was thinking about upgrading to a Z790 with 64GB of 6000Mhz DDR5.

Not worthwhile unless you aim for an additional 5-7 frames per second.

No, it doesn't seem worthwhile. As mentioned before, the improvements are minimal. A few apps could use more bandwidth, but if it's just for gaming, spending around 200-300% on a good graphics card to match your setup won't yield enough return for that purpose.

5090 on a 1440p display? Haha, maybe upgrade to a 4k OLED screen instead.

It's mostly gaming. I keep apps open during gameplay—Discord, HWMonitor, Afterburner are always running. Usually I also stream Twitch or YouTube while playing.

I'm confident this will be the right choice. I'm planning to switch to 4K OLED soon and am researching the top options. I prefer a 32-inch size and avoid ultra-wide formats.

It seems the response is likely no, and the money will be allocated elsewhere. I’ll look into some recommendations for 4K OLED monitors that are around 32 inches.

I checked my CPU using both methods, and the result is no. It falls within the acceptable range during the games I played, particularly at higher resolutions.
