Is the Thermaltake Toughpower GT 850W a suitable choice?
Hi, I'm setting up a gaming PC for development:
X7800X3D
64GB DDR5
Gigabyte X870 EAGLE WIFI7
RTX 5060 Ti 16GB
Four SSDs
Would Thermaltake Toughpower GT 850W be a suitable choice? It's currently listed at 85 euros in some stores.
https://www.amazon.es/dp/B0DCZJSJ7Z?th=1
It mentions 80 gold plus. I don't see any details about the PSU quality in the product summary.
If not, are there better alternatives under 110 euros on amazon.es or pccomponentes.com?
I came across these options for example:
Thermaltake Toughpower GT 850W – 85€
MSI MPG A850G – 120€ (about 35 euros more)
MSI MAG A750GLS – 94€
I don't see the quality details for this PSU in the summary. Check the PSU tier list or explore the options listed there.
Purchase just a reliable psu.
Without a well-regarded review, assess quality through the warranty period.
A 7-year warranty is acceptable; I prefer 10 or 12 years.
The Toughpower offers a 5-year warranty.
The MSI 850g provides a 10-year warranty.
The sole drawback of an overly powerful psu is its cost.
It will only consume the power it needs, not exceeding its maximum capacity.
This extra capacity supports future GPU upgrades and ensures quieter, more efficient performance in the middle range.
At the bottom of the page, choose the "Full List (with limited confidence ratings)" tab. Then the Tt GT will appear, as speculative Tier B-. Because it's uncertain, I wouldn't purchase it at all. Once more reviews are available, the tier position could shift. In the meantime, it remains unclear. Even if the rating stays the same, Tier B- is considered low quality and should be avoided. Opt for a confirmed Tier A PSU instead. A-G is the top choice among the three. A-GLS is also Tier A- and would be suitable.
