Considering purchasing a system from a friend. The PC has an Intel i9 12900 processor, 32 gigabytes of RAM, a 3090 GPU, an M.2 500 gigabit card with a PSU. He installed a custom water loop and is offering it for $800. I also watched a live video showing everything working fine. I’m not fond of custom water loops because of the risk of leaks. Can it be removed to reinstall fans?

Can we provide additional information about the full specifications? Photos of this custom watercooling are available. Is there a GPU included in it?

It seems like a reasonable offer considering the 3090 GPU. You might easily swap a custom loop for a high-quality air cooler for about $100. The main concern is the power supply's condition—could you provide its make or model? Also, would you be interested in the case design? If not, skip the purchase.

Finally received the pc my friend bought me for 800$. It features an Intel Core I9 11900k @3.5GHz, Mag Z590 Tomahawk Wi-Fi, Corsair 32GB RAM @3000, XPG M.2 2280 1TB, Evga Supernova 850 G+PSU, Evga GeForce RTX 3090 24GB with a water block, Case is a Bitspower Titan Series with an integrated custom loop. Everything functions properly. The main issue I’m facing is elevated temperatures on both CPU and GPU because of only having a 360mm Rad with three fans. I just added three Corsair fans and a Noctua fan. The GPU temperatures are highest so far—memory at 92°C and a hotspot of 92C, CPU around mid-80s. He couldn’t get the fans to run straight, but it works without leaks. I’m considering removing the GPU from the loop, but I’m unsure what heatsink, backplate, and fans should be used for it.

I don't have the specific details about your 3090 model. Could you provide more information or clarify what you're asking?

It was a really good offer.
From what I understand, this setup is for prebuilding water cooling. It seems the main components (CPU, motherboard, RAM) might not be fully available yet. There are options on their site for the socket you’re planning to use.
If the bottom section can have that plate taken out and three fans installed there, it should work. The intake area could handle directing air upward. The case looks like an 011D.
It might be useful to inspect the block for any buildup in the fins.
I’d also look into your BIOS settings tailored for the 11th generation i9. They offer boost technology to improve clock speeds and an unlocked voltage modifier that can raise the voltage from around 150 to about 250. (I’d need to adjust it in your own BIOS to confirm the exact values). I’d recommend turning that feature off and checking if your temperatures stabilize better.
