I constructed a computer about three months ago without any problems. Recently, I bought a second monitor and everything was fine until... After roughly thirty minutes of use, my PC displayed a blue screen. I’ve remained trapped in a BSOD loop, attempted reinstalling Windows, but the issue persists every time.
I’ve come across reports about driver problems with HDMI causing BSODs, so I thought maybe disconnecting the cable or using safe mode might help. Still, it didn’t resolve the problem for me.
I’m curious if a defective HDMI cable or driver could have triggered this, and which component might have been affected. It could just be a coincidence, but it feels odd that after making only one change to my setup in recent months, my computer is now severely impacted.
If anyone has suggestions before I replace parts or take it to a repair shop, it would be really helpful!

Consider experimenting with the iGPU and using just a single monitor. Additionally, make sure to reset the CMOS on your motherboard once you've taken out the discrete GPU from the setup.
As discussed, remove the 6700 xt from the setup and check if the integrated GPU shows any activity. If it boots normally, reinstall the 6700 xt and try to capture an image. I’ve experienced similar issues with a GTX 1070 where a corrupted monitor caused driver problems, leading to a reset and subsequent instability after a reboot. Ensure all connections are secure—plug in the cables fully, including the 8-pin motherboard connector and the 24-pin interface. It can be tricky to keep them tight, but it’s common when they become loose over time. If the system still fails after removing the 6700 xt, try resetting the CMOS. You might need to remove the battery from the motherboard first, then release the power button to discharge the capacitors, and let it sit without power for a short while. The board may have a reset button to clear the CMOS, which can sometimes restore functionality. If nothing works, the power supply could be the issue.
Tried both of these steps a couple days ago without success, so I sent it to a repair shop. They called me back today, stating it was the CPU issue and confirming that the second monitor problem was just a coincidence, correct?
I’m curious whether it’s typical for a CPU to fail after about three months of use, or if something went wrong during setup, especially since this was my first build. I’ve been checking temperatures occasionally, and they usually stayed around 60° during games, with spikes up to ~75° at times (though I thought that was unusual but later found it normal). Apart from the temperature readings, are there any other steps I can take to avoid this happening again if it was my mistake?
