Hello, recently I received an RTX 5090 Astral OC and it has been performing well, reaching up to 3000mhz with a maximum of 62C. However, during stress tests where both CPU and GPU are run simultaneously under OCCT power after five minutes, my PC would freeze and I had to keep the power on to restart it. I’ve also tested stress testing CPU and GPU separately for 15 minutes, and everything worked perfectly—GPU at 62C at 550w, CPU at 80C with a clock speed of 5.2ghz and voltage of 1.1v. Could it be that when both are fully utilized they draw more than 1000W, causing the crash?

How old is your PSU? In order to rule out your PSU being the issue, might want to source(borrow, not buy) a reliably built, higher wattage PSU, preferably 1.2~1.5KW and see if the issue persists.
On second thoughts, please include the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

Astral card should track each wire entering the card. Ensure none exceed 9-10 amps. The 550W rating appears reasonable in the stock BIOS, indicating it’s likely being limited. Only the very late RM1000x model will run ATX 3.1; older versions might still draw high spikes from the GPU. This could point to the issue if it isn’t the 2024 version. If the case lacks 80+ certification, it’s probably the newer design. The only acceptable option should carry Cybenetics Platinum certification.

It seems like the older model might be triggering the over current protection, so you could be facing issues with that. The 2024 RM1000x should work fine and allow you to keep the cables in place, though it's recommended to use the native 12VHPWR cable. If you're looking for more capacity, check out this link: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Cn...-m...00fnfagu-4

Could you clarify if you mean a product, service, or something else? I’ll be happy to help once I understand your question better.

If it only fails under stress tests, it could be fine for gaming and everyday tasks.

Up to your preference. As Flayed mentioned, it should work well for regular tasks. While gaming, the 9800X3D draws around 55W. And if you're similar to me, I usually choose a lower power setting on my GPUs. A 5090 running at 450W feels impressively fast.
