I have the Master Chief Collection on Steam and I haven't used my computer in a while. Unfortunately there's this thing where every time I start the game it asks me what input method I want to use and I keep clicking mouse & keyboard. On top of that every time I quit out the game it seems to change my controls and it doesn't save for some reason. I tried restoring the controls to default, quitting the game and entering back again, uninstalling and reinstalling the game, changing controls and setting for all games, clearing game cache, repairing library, and verifying the game's files, and neither of those worked. If anyone could let me know how to fix that I would really appreciate it.

Are you wondering if both the KB/M and Gamepad are connected to your PC during game launch? If yes, be sure to unplug the Gamepad before starting the game. If this isn't the issue, you could try using the WindowsNoEditor file, which can be found at the provided link... and after confirming that the default input device is set to KB/M, configure it to read-only. It's also a good idea to save a copy of the file before making any changes.

I'm not relying on a mouse or keyboard, and I don't have a controller. I've saved WindowsNoEditor from another site, but I'm unsure how to configure the default input device to KB/M. Could you guide me through the steps?

I wouldn't advise or propose adding such a file. It should have already been included in the game files at the specified location mentioned on the PCGamingWiki page I referenced.

Check if there is another file named WindowsNoEditor in the same folder.

Which directory or path are you examining? The configuration file should be found here.
The AppData folder is considered "hidden" by default on Windows, so you must turn on the "show hidden files/folders" setting.

Good point, I often forget to mention that to those whom may not be aware of it.

I wasn't able to locate the WindowsNoEditor file, but it seems MCC had a fix after an update. Thanks for your assistance.
