I just installed my Thermaltake Smart Series 600w PSU, connected everything, and turned it on. Nothing happened—even after trying to short the pins instead of using the power button. When I try to power it up, the fans spin for a brief moment before stopping completely. The PSU fan appears to click but doesn’t move much, just returning to its original position. It came with a warranty, which is nice, but I’m unsure if this issue can be fixed by myself or if it’s a hardware problem requiring a refund.

It's important to mention that the "shell" or whatever on the PSU wasn't there when I opened it, but I managed to push it down so it could reposition itself (I didn't do anything too extreme, by the way).

I looked at the power cord and the CMOS battery, but they didn’t show any issues.

I’d definitely consider returning it because it’s a low-quality PSU. Just keep an eye on it if a better budget model also doesn’t work. A full history would be useful to understand the situation completely and figure out what happened.

It really does make sense, but it’s a disappointment since it took nearly a month for it to arrive. I think the refunds won’t come any sooner, and I was just trying to double-check if there were any other options to confirm it wasn’t a mismatch.

Could you suggest a few more affordable options that are also good quality?

The Corsair CX ones, excluding the older models with green branding, usually offer the most affordable PSUs for connecting any 70-class GPU. Although the 1070 isn't brand new, it's similar to an old car—higher-end GPUs don't become more affordable just because prices drop.

Not anymore. CX 2023 is a refreshed version of the CV. CX550 2023 shares the same regulated group platform as the CV550. CX650/750 2023 include DC-DC but maintain double forward on the main power.

Which option should you choose? I'm also considering upgrading my GPU later, so I'm a bit uncertain right now. Honestly, it's a bit confusing.
