Is the overclocking of my i7-6700k suitable for the first time?
Is the overclocking of my i7-6700k suitable for the first time?
I would try it, but I need to run it stock or it would overheat. It reaches 77 Celsius while playing CS on 1.2 Voltage and 4.2GHz. That temperature is a bit high for this setup. Could you tell me your ambient temperature?
Maybe testing CS with an open case (removing the side panel) could help.
The GPU usually creates most of the heat, so if the airflow improves, it might help.
If not, it’s possible the CPU cooler wasn’t installed properly—check the mounting, thermal paste quality, or amount used.

The GPU produces most of the heat, so many people use high-end cards with coolers that keep hot air inside. If opening the case lowers temps, you’ll need better airflow.
If not, perhaps the CPU cooler wasn’t installed properly (poor mounting, wrong thermal paste, excess paste, etc.).
I can reapply the thermal paste. Shouldn’t a CM Hyper 612 V2 be sufficient for overclocking? Could it be I only have one case fan?
My GPU was at 67 Celsius during playback while watching twitch
I can attempt to reapply the thermal paste again. Shouldn't a CM Hyper 612 V2 be sufficient for overclocking? Could it be that I only have one case fan? My GPU reached 67 degrees Celsius during gameplay while streaming on Twitch. Yes, having just one case fan is an issue. Don't start with the thermal paste; try it in an open case first. If it improves things, add a few more fans so that by the end your system should have at least two exhaust fans (rear top and top) and half of the intake fans: front, second front, bottom or side – whatever your case allows.

But I have a mini-ITX with only one sysfan connector :/ I'll definitely reapply paste and use the fan I already have between my disc cage and hard drive cages next to my CPU. Hope it helps!

You can link fans to the PSU or use a slitter. Re-applying the paste won't fix your heat problem.
If you're unsure, take off the side panel of the case and play while it's open to check the temperatures.
