Is the Gigabyte RX 9070 XT Gaming OC not updating to the BIOS?
Is the Gigabyte RX 9070 XT Gaming OC not updating to the BIOS?
The problem lies in the title. I recently purchased a GPU to replace my existing RTX 3080, which is functioning correctly in the same system. The current specifications are:
Motherboard: B550M Aorus Elite rev 1.0 (Latest BIOS installed - F20g, Mar 11, 2025)
CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X
PSU: MSI A1000G PCIE5
When booting up the PC, I see the GPU fan spinning and the RGB lighting of the Gigabyte logo, but there is no signal on the monitor (using DP cable). Additionally, the PC can only be turned off by pressing the power button for a long time.
I have tried and failed with the same issues:
- Resetting the CMOS battery
- Disabling CSM support in BIOS
- Forcing PCIe Gen 3 / Gen 4 in BIOS
- Removing one RAM stick
- Powering the GPU via specific connections
Both the GPU and the PSU are new, and the local retailer who sold the GPU returned it after my RMA request, stating it was fine. I’m unsure what to do next... Do you have any advice?
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Discussing how to force PCIe Gen 3 / Gen 4 in BIOS when the system won't boot or enter BIOS.
If you still have the RTX3080 GPU, reinstall it carefully, ensure you're using the latest chipset driver (run it from an elevated command), then remove all GPU drivers via DDU in Safe Mode. Try swapping the GPUs and check if the problem remains.
Are you working with any storage drives? Both the GPU and PSU are brand new.
What power supply were you using when you had the RTX3080?
Hello, thank you for your response. I can access BIOS by connecting my old GPU, which allowed me to make all BIOS changes by temporarily replacing it with the RTX 3080. The only storage device is an M.2 SSD (SSD A-Data XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB). I'm using a dualboot setup of Windows and Linux via systemd-boot (not sure if that matters), and on Windows I've removed all GPU drivers through DDU since I haven't used it in a while. However, as I mentioned earlier, I'm still unable to reach the BIOS (let alone the OS), so it seems driver software isn't making much of a difference. The lower PCIeX4 slot didn't seem to help either. Corsair RM850e
P.S. Verified the GPU functions properly on another test rig (B550M only, excluding MSI).
P.P.S. Attempted to activate Above 4G Decoding and set BAR to Auto in BIOS, but no improvement.
Today's 1 TB drives are extremely affordable. I would replace my current drive with a new one from a well-known manufacturer like WD, Samsung, or Crucial and clone your XPG to the new device (the main issue isn't with Windows, since you can't even access the BIOS, so no need for a complete reinstall). However, before proceeding, you might also consider updating the firmware on your motherboard using the 3080. This could address any compatibility problems.
Maybe it's not the M.2 drive itself, but the dual boot software. It might be feasible to have separate M.2 drives for each OS by selecting the BIOS option to choose which one to boot from.
Do you have checked the alternative M.2 slot?

Yes, I tested both slots and ended up purchasing a different SSD. I worked with the one that came with it. This week I plan to erase the old one (using my previous GPU) and check if it works with both installations. But it looks like it's similar to this: https://forums. except with XT now (and an SSD from another brand). If anyone has a solution, I'd really appreciate it and would like to add more storage.
