Hello everyone, I recently checked inside my PC and found some dust inside. I'm not sure if it's a lot or just a little, and I'm worried it might affect how long my computer lasts. It doesn't seem to get too hot, but it gets louder when I play games, especially during Poppy Playtime Chapter 3β€”it really gets noisy. Since it's next to my cat box, a bit more dust is expected, of course 😊. I want to be sure this isn't a problem and won't impact my performance or the computer's life. I've also attached some photos of the interior and my specs in case that helps. Thanks!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
I've seen system's with much worse dust build up. As for your noise level, you could replace the CPU cooler for something higher in pedigree. Stock cooler's like the one you have will get the job done but leave a lot on the sound department.
Judging from your PSU and the case, I'm assuming you tried building a $500 PC?
Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:

Hello, thank you for your prompt reply! I'm relieved the dust isn't affecting things much, which was my main concern. I'm uncertain about which component is getting too loud, but if it's the cooler, what would be a suitable replacement? I have limited knowledge of my PC since it was given to me by someone else, and it seems to be a relatively expensive machine compared to others. Another point is how often should I clean it, particularly because it's close to the cat box, which tends to collect a lot of dust. I've been using it for a few months now and haven't cleaned it yet. I truly appreciate your assistance.

This cooler is a CoolerMaster i50 designed for LGA 1151 sockets. Based on my experience, it doesn't become very noisy even when paired with an i7 processor. The actual noise level depends on your specific fan curve and the thermal demands. As it's a budget model, its heat sink performance isn't high, but it should handle a Coffee Lake i5 just fine. You might want to adjust the fan curves in MSI Click BIOS and use tools like MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision X1 to find the optimal settings. Alternatively, you could try the ear test by placing your ear near the case to pinpoint the source of the noise, as I do.

Thank you! I'm sure you're familiar with computers and know your way around them. I'll start experimenting with everything you suggested right away 😊. I'm not sure how to handle the BIOS, but I think I can figure it out. It seems to be about adjusting the voltages as I remember.
