Is it beneficial to upgrade an i5-2400 to an i5-6500? I'm considering changing my Windows 10 PC from an i5 2400 to an i5-6500. Do you expect a significant performance improvement?

I’d probably say no. Check the link: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/In.../3513vs803
Both support Windows 10, but neither supports Windows 11. I’d wait for something more recent.

Your current motherboard is a 1155
The best value and performance boost with minimal extra cost compared to the alternative of building a new system. I own a few i7 2600 and still manage to play decently on newer titles, especially if you're on a tighter budget.

The outcome hinges on your specific requirements for the CPU.

I wouldn't recommend userbenchmark. For better CPU performance comparisons, check passmark. That's more accurate.
Intel i5-2400 versus i5-6500 versus AMD Ryzen 5 5500 [cpubenchmark.net] by PassMark Software
A good choice would be a Ryzen 4500 or 5500 in a B550 motherboard if budget is limited. You can upgrade later to the 5800X3D.
With more funds, consider an i5 12400 in a B660 motherboard, which can be upgraded to the 14700 later.

Perhaps for those who overlook Userbenchmark, they usually display a distorted figure at the top that doesn't represent the true difference. It can be confusing. Still, it does highlight the main speed comparisons I notice as fairly reliable, and it serves as a straightforward comparison aid that appears in the initial search results. Appreciate the warning!
