Is the computer restarting unexpectedly?
Hello,
Months ago I had 2x8Gb of RAM and everything ran smoothly. Later, I realized I needed more memory to run virtual machines with Kali Linux and others. I upgraded to 2x8Gb again and enabled the XMP profile to fully utilize the capacity. However, during my work, the computer would freeze unexpectedly. After that, I turned off the XMP profile. The machine would stop freezing but would restart randomly afterward. Eventually, I replaced the newest RAM, but the issue persisted. The computer hasn’t restarted properly for a day now, and I’m still unsure if the problem is fixed.
Maybe a Memtest86 would help?

What BIOS version is installed on your motherboard? If updates are available, update them first, then reset the CMOS by unplugging from power and screen, removing the CMOS battery, holding the power button for 30 seconds, and reinserting the battery after 30 minutes.

BIOS version for your motherboard? If you have pending updates, flash to the latest, then reset the CMOS by unplugging from power and screen, removing the CMOS battery, pressing and holding the power button for 30 seconds, and then reinserting the battery after 30 minutes.
I plan to follow these steps. I installed the latest BIOS version to enable XMP profiles but will verify again and retry.
I began testing with MemTest86. Initially, I encountered errors on all 4 slots. Now I’m using the newest RAM and seeing no issues. I’ll update this later.
Yesterday I tried your suggestion and the computer still restarts and freezes randomly now.
I have the latest BIOS version and I restore the BIOS setup, since I’m unsure if I made any changes in the past.
I also checked the 4 RAM slots during the week. Three are working perfectly, but one has many errors. I unmounted that slot and the pair, but the computer still restarts randomly.
I don’t know what I could test more... Maybe the power supply unit? But I think I should buy one then without knowing if this is the issue.
I’m considering buying another new computer because I’m getting really frustrated with this situation.
