I came home from work tonight eager to use my computer. When I tried to turn it on by pressing the power button, the fans started for a brief moment before the machine shut down. The RGB lights still functioned properly, but pressing the power button again didn’t work. After briefly cutting off the power and then reconnecting it, the same issue persisted. I’ve checked several things: unplugging peripherals, testing RAM one at a time, using a different power supply, bypassing the power button, clearing CMOS, and even swapping my 5800X3D for a 2600X. The last thing I’ve tried is replacing the processor with my brother’s old one. Please let me know what you think!

Before checking the other parts, I think your motherboard is likely functioning properly. The most likely suspects are the power supply unit and the CPU. If you have a backup CPU available, why not give it a try? I experienced an issue with my 5600X where it stopped working suddenly after playing, leaving only the RGB lights active. Good luck!

I believe there are two possibilities. First, a motherboard shortage might be causing PSU protection issues—verify there are no additional standoffs under the motherboard and inspect your rear I/O. Second, some ASRock boards use outdated UEFI BIOS versions that don’t support the Ryzen 5000 series; updating it would help. If you can't even access the BIOS screen, try placing your two RAM sticks in a single channel, such as A1 A2, A2 B1, B1 B2.

I've been testing it for about a month or two and everything is working smoothly with the new bios.

I removed the whole setup from the case and put it on a motherboard box, but nothing worked. I also updated the BIOS before installing the new CPU about a month ago; it had been running smoothly until now. I’m almost certain the board is dead—switching back to my old CPU didn’t help it start the fans. I’ve tried every RAM setting possible, so no luck there. It looks like it’s time to spend some money.

Thank you for the idea. I retrieved my old CPU and attempted another try... Unfortunately, it didn’t work. It seems the board might be faulty.

Yeah. At that point, the board is probably the culprit. There is still a slight chance that it can be repaired but they are slim at best. Good luck !
