I own an FX 8350 with a stock cooler; after upgrading to a dark rock 4, it now stays around 36-55°C. I installed a MAI afterburner and went through stress tests, but the CPU still reports 15°C. If the CPU is running below ambient temperature, how does it manage to stay under that level?

It must operate at least as well as the surrounding environment. Never lower.

That’s precisely what I assumed, which is why I became puzzled when examining the figures. It seems to me there might be vapor chambers involved, possibly helping maintain a lower temperature.

As mentioned, the cooling efficiency of air coolers depends on the surrounding air. Where is your unit located? If it's positioned low, the cooler ambient temperatures can help because heat rises. Is it really 36 degrees in your room? That would be quite hot!

My main is a 5930k with an 1080ti, which means it really heats up in the winter. The studio apartment feels like a sauna, and I often leave the heater on.
