For a short time I was playing Skyrim and the display would suddenly turn grey, then my computer would freeze for roughly ten seconds. After exiting the game, I opened Task Manager to close it, only to be warned by Windows 10 that an application was blocked from using graphics hardware. I checked for updates but kept getting the same message. This issue has persisted across three versions of the Nvidia drivers. If anyone else faced this problem, please share your solution. It’s becoming increasingly frustrating to lose my progress. Your system specs: EVGA 980Ti SSC ACX 2.0 i5-4690K @4.5Ghz, 16GB Crucial Ballistix (4x4), 1000W EVGA G2 power supply, Windows 10 Pro.

I never received any notifications after Skyrim crashed, but I fixed it by lowering the shadows setting. Many people report similar issues online. It seems there might be a problem with the shadows configuration—especially at low levels. If you look up the issue, you’ll likely find others discussing the same fix. Could be a mod affecting it, or perhaps the load order is incorrect, or the mod itself has bugs? Does this happen only with Skyrim, or are other games affected too?

Perhaps try reinstalling the nvidia driver and choose fresh install not express one so that it deletes the prvious version and not just write over it. There is also a program that is made specially for removing data files of nvidia/amd drivers that would otherwise not be removed by uninstalling. You can get it here http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/disp...nload.html

I always perform a fresh setup each time I install the latest versions just to confirm everything is working properly. Still, I’ll give it a shot and then follow the instructions you provided. Thanks!

It works, and I’m very excited about the outcome.
