I use Hughesnet and I can say it would be a real letdown for gaming. It's terrible for everything except checking emails. I don't see the "average" speed unless it's after midnight and I seldom stream YouTube over 480p even then. It's not a connectivity problem—I was there when it was installed and I know the satellite setup works. It started strong but now the connection is slow. My average ping is about 600ms. I tried Skype once... that was a one-time thing. I learned their throttling isn't much worse than the actual service, so I stick with my lowest plan and just keep using the data. Overall, it won't support gaming or HD video.
