I have a big 4K TV (Samsung QN90B) that can show images at 144 times per second. But when I connect it to my Asus Vivobook S and use PC or Game mode, the screen only shows about 33 frames each second. This makes the mouse cursor feel super slow and laggy while I work on apps inside the TV. Even if I turn down the picture quality to a lower resolution (like 1920 by 1080), I can get up to 60 or even 120hz, but that lowers the frame rate too much because everything looks huge. I am currently set to 3840 by 2160 with the picture scaled to 125% and it looks perfect, but the input lag is still a problem. Is there any software setting that can raise this refresh rate? Or do I just have to buy a new laptop? I already have an HDMI cable for my Xbox Series X which gives me 144hz at 4K with the TV, so I think it's hardwired into the hardware. That's really annoying because I love this laptop.

Do they sell a lot of Asus Vivobook S right now? Which exact one do you own?

This laptop is an ASUS Vivobook S510U with a Q model, running on an Intel processor from the seventh generation and has a graphics card called GeForce 940MX. It also includes built-in graphics that use another Intel chip named Intel® HD Graphics 620 for internal tasks.

I didn't find a better older version of this laptop. It is an ASUS Vivobook S15 S510 with an 8th gen CPU, but here are the details: Color is Star Grey. The processor options include Intel Core i7 7500U, i5 7200U, i3 7100U, i7 8550U, and i5 8250U. You can buy it at www.asus.com but the only HDMI connection is version 1.4, which supports 4k at 30 frames per second.

Yeah, I figured that could happen too. 😔 It's a new laptop so... well, it was really annoying. Thanks for taking your time.
